Ryanair may charge £1 for onboard toilets

The BBC reports today that they may charge £1 for using the toilet on their flights. He points out that if you visit a major railway station you will have to pay 20 pence. I believe, the different currencies carried by passengers would make it difficult to find a coin to operate the door that could be used across Europe. Also that there would be increased maintenance as the slots get clogged up with washers, metal discs and wrong currency. I'm sure he has thought this one through ages ago. He is just after more publicity. He is making the point that the airline will continue to look for revenue streams to keep the base costs of tickets down.
Do you think he will implement charges for the toilets?

Ryanair to abolish 'Check In' desks

Ryanair is to phase out 'Check In' desks. They already charge for checking in baggage and aim to have only one in five passengers checking in hold luggage in the future.
According to Ryanair 75% of passengers Check In online already. I must say that has not been my experience at airports of late, but they must know.
The aim of the airline is to reduce the cost of the flight by trimming costs to the bone, while charging for everything from paying by card (even though there is no cost free option), hold baggage, in flight meals, prize draws and just announced in flight mobile phone calls and text messaging.

Back after 2 years

After a 2 year break my blogs are back. Eurapart us my hobby and a number of factors conspired to ensure that I did not have enough time with work and home commitments to keep this blog updated. I am now on sabbatical and am now updating and revising the Eurapart sites. With the credit crunch starting to bite hard it is this information on affordable travel should help you to get away for a break over the coming months.
Over the last 2 years I have also been considering the environmental effects of travel and as such will be downgrading the prominence of air travel. That said, budget airlines such as Ryanair emit less CO2 per passenger mile than some of the older operators who operate with considerably lower load factors.
