Air France & Transavia to launch budget airline
A 60/40% joint venture between Air France and transavia the KLM owned Dutch low cost airline is to be considered by Air KLM France at a meeting on 22 November 2006. If approved a French Transavia would be set up with a base at Paris Orly. It would be marketed through the existing transavia.com website. Destinations would be aimed at French travellers with Morocco, Tunisia, Spain or Italy. The service will be provided by 186 seat Boeing 737-800 which are the latest most efficient in the 737 line up. A press release on the transavia website states that they will not be drawn from the Netherlands carriers' fleet.
