Monarch Airlines have this week been recognised as the 'Airline of the Year - Leisure'. The award is from the Travel trade Gazette and was made at the a ceremony in Old Billingsgate, London on 4 October 2006. They faced stiff competition from Virgin Atlantic, Thomas Cook, BMI and First Choice but won out due to their combination of cheap fares and "frills" such as free newspapers, meals etc.
Monarch's flights start at £33 one way including all taxes.
