Ryanair increase checked in baggage fees
Ryanair is to discourage passengers with checked in bags even more. From 1 September 2006 persons paying to check in baggage online will rise by £1 to £3.50 per bag from 1 September 2006. From 1 November the total checked in allowance will be reduced from its present 20 kilograms to 15 kilograms per person. The cost for bags not pre paid when booking will still be subject to the £5 per bag charge as now.
Ryanair has made it clear that it doesn't want passengers with lots of heavy bags that require baggage handlers when most passengers use the airline for a short visits and can easily get by with the carry on allowance of 10 kilograms.
